WRESTLING LITERACY is a mobile, community-based youth engagement series that blends the intensity of WRESTLING with the transformative power of LITERACY. Designed specifically for inner-city YOUTH and delivered in partnership with Project Giveback, the DC Takedown Club, the NS Collection and MY Fit Fam DC, this program connects FAMILIES to two critical pillars of thriving communities: RECREATION and EDUCATION.
Each event includes a LIVE WRESTLING Demonstration led by a local student-athletes and/or coach, paired with a curated LITERACY activity. From School Supply Distributions to Read-A-Louds to Book Giveaways, Storytelling Circles, and Library Card drives, every session becomes a bridge between physical development and intellectual empowerment.
The goal is to introduce young people to MOVEMENT and LITERACY in tandem, cultivating discipline, confidence, and curiosity, - on the mat and on the page. By hosting activations in familiar and safe community spaces, WRESTLING LITERACY promotes equitable access to mentorship, books, and sport-based learning in neighborhoods where opportunity gaps are often the widest.
